Some of the greatest players in basketball history did not attend marquee NCAA Division I universities but rather small colleges throughout the USA. So it was very fitting that these great stars from under-the-radar colleges were finally rewarded with their own Hall of Fame on November 11-12 at Evansville College in Indiana.
Keeping up his busy appearance schedule, “The Icon” Jim Nelson was in Evansville for the proceedings. Featured in the accompanying photo with Jim is one of the greatest backcourts in NBA history in Earl “The Pearl” Monroe &Dick Barnett. Monroe & Barnett were part of the great NY Knicks NBA championship teams in the early 1970’s. “The Pearl” is recognized as one of the greatest one-on-one stars of all time and in the day was known as “Black Jesus” throughout the inner cities of Eastern USA.
