For 40 consecutive years Coach Andy Yosinoff has served Emmanuel College as head basketball coach (in addition to various other executive positions) and every step of the way his 98 year old dad Louie has been their cheering him on.
On November 19th Emmanuel College provided Andy with the ultimate recognition that can be awarded a coach by naming the gymnasium floor the “Andy Yosinoff Court”. With over 70 former players (a testament in itself) and hundreds of friends in attendance, Emmanuel president Sister Janet Eisner provided an emotional speech as she took all through the 40-year journey that she has shared with Coach. Beyond the 1026 games coached and 768 victories achieved (ranking Yosinoff as the #1 active NCAA Division III women coach & soon to be #1 in history), Andy’s true achievements in building a family atmosphere equal to none and the off-the-court successes of his players are records that exemplify the real mission of a college coach/administrator.
As Louie sat just a few feet from his son’s logo on the court, it is difficult to imagine how proud he must have felt as his son’s accolades were revisited by President Eisner. We all look forward in two years to celebrating Louie hit the magical “100”!
On a personal note, I was so proud of my daughter Celeste who created the special cake honoring Coach Yosinoff.
