With the famous Paris Eiffel Tower looming high overhead young Liu Le Yi could not overcome the immense stomach butterflies and the tricky red clay tennis surface in her debut match against Italy’s Lisa Pigato in the 2016 Longines Future Tennis Aces at Roland Garros World Championship.
The Guangzhou native was selected to join the elite group of 12/u girls representing 16 countries by way of capturing the 2015 Mercedes-Benz “Tour 2020” national Finals in Shenzhen last October.
While extremely disappointed in the on-court result, as her chaperone Liu Lin (BIG assistant development director) and all of us at the CTA &BIG, pointed out in consoling Le Yi, the week in Paris “The City of Lights”meeting new friends from across the globe and legend Steffi Graff, seeing & tasting the amazing French culture, and gaining international tennis experience at 12 years old are all amazing life-learning experiences that she should cherish for her life.
There will many more tennis matches for Le Yi but few experiences will match her Paris adventure representing China and for this, as we are, we all pass along our sincere thanks to Longines for making it all possible.
Our congratulations to Maria Dolores Lopez of Spain who now is the 2016 Longines Future Stars Champion!
