Thanks to Larry “The Legend” Lipsher (see other newsletter article), my long-time friend, Asia’s #1 sports journalist, & former colleague at Asia Sports Group Tim Noonan (see photo) joined us for a terrific evening of story-telling, Morton’s steak & fine wine in Hong Kong on May 26th.

Now based out of Bangkok, Tim is about to lead the Sports Illustrated takeover of former Asia Sports Network (ASN)through a comprehensive integration of television, website & mobile content integration. Our water under the bridge stories included our experiences as the first international broadcasting team of the China Basketball League (1995) on Star Sports when we had the “pleasure” of broadcasting the “perfect” 0-22 season of Huawei Police as well as launching Asia’s first basketball magazine “Movin the Rock” in 1996. For more years than he can count Tim has been providing his expert insight into the sports world through his weekly column in South China Morning Post.

“The Legend”, with more than 800 articles and 6 books along with tax accounting service to hundreds of clients (including yours truly) under his belt, is turning down the dial and moving towards a well-deserved semi-retirement schedule with his wife Catherine while bouncing back & forth to Japan to see his daughter Joanna, who is whiz kid in her own right speaking 5 languages and finishing up her masters degree in science research, as well as followed his beloved Japanese baseball.

It is a blessing to be able to share great times with long-time friends. I look forward to our next gathering on Tim’s turf in Bangkok.
