With the participation of Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker, Boston Mayor Marty Walsh & Boston Police Commissioner Jimmy Evans, the citizens of Allston-Brighton packed the West End House Gymnasium on August 19th to celebrate one of district’s most valuable community resources with a “Biggest Fun Day”.
Opening remarks were delivered by Allston-Brighton’s own Representative Kevin Honan, a great friend & supporter of BIG initiatives between China & Boston, who reflected on the tragic loss of one of West End House’s most community contributors, Ms. Dawn Jaffier, while inspiring the audience of neighborhood families to fully utilize one of the district’s community treasures.
Having played community basketball at the West End House decades ago, I was thrilled to be invited to attend the festivities, support Representative Honan, and have a few words with both the governor & mayor about opportunities for cooperation with China.
